How are the measurements done

We find that there were some ambiguity as to how the measurements of the uniform were taken. So here is to show how exactly the measurements is taken.

For the pinafore, the length is from shoulder to the skirt seams, and the waist is around the belt line.

The length of the pinafore is take from the shoulder to the seams of the skirt.

The waist measurement is taken along the belt line.
Since it is circumference, multiply the reading by two.
For the pants (both short and long pants), the waist measurement is taken by measuring both the expanded and non-expanded rubber around the waist. But since the elastic rubber cannot be measured with absolute consistency, the measurements given are basically not too tight nor too loose.

Again, make sure you multiply the reading by two for the circumference.
Measurement taken before the waist is expanded.

Measure when the waist is expanded.
While the price list do not have the length of the shorts and long pants, if required and if we are able to measure (depending on availability of stock), the length of the pants are measured as below:

As for blouse / shirt, see below:
Measure from collar to the lower seams of the shirt

The shoulder is measured from one end of the shoulder to the other end of shoulder

Quality Check

To be sure of the quality, one of our concerns is whether the colour of the pinafore or the pants would leak when washed. We wouldn't want to hand-wash the uniform each time for fear of it staining the other clothes in the washing machine!

We started off by soaking the pinafore for half an hour.

The pinafore soaked in soap water.
After half an hour, we rinse the pinafore and this is the result:
About to pour into a white container. No white pail, so an inverted stool would do. :p

Pouring the water...

And continue to pour...

The water is crystal clear!

The water dripping from the pinafore shows no signs of colour leaking.
We are glad that the pinafore passed the colour-leak test. We spoke to some friends who are familiar with other brands of uniform and they agreed that these uniform are of high quality.

At the mean time, we are in the midst of putting the info of sizes and prices together. Hopefully able to post the price list soon!

Our first batch of samples...

Here are some of samples we have received and it looked very good! The set above is girls' primary school uniform, with the soft collar white blouse.

This set is the boys' primary school uniform, with the hard collar white shirt. Both long pants and shorts available.

There are secondary school uniform available too, but we have yet to take any samples.

Here, a closer look at the back of the shorts. Elastic band, so can stretch to fit.

The elastic band is also on the long pants.

Will soon post the price and sizes. Stay tuned!

Why do we do this?

This initiative started when we were looking for school uniform for our eldest daughter who is going to Standard 1 next year.

The branded and more popular school uniform are usually very expensive. Buying sufficient sets for them to last a week (usually three to five) would really burn a hole in your pocket.

So when we found our supplier of school uniform, we think it is only fitting that we share this gem with other parents as well! So here it is - a true economical alternative for parents, and the quality is actually quite good as well!

We will keep you updated on pictures and prices of these school uniform using this space! So stay tuned! :)
