There were some feedback that the colour of the uniform in this blog is not very nice.... and I must admit it is not very nice. Those pictures were taken using just a tablet and without proper lighting, they were awful. We were just trying to show what we have and did not pay much attention to the actual quality of the pictures.
So with the kind assistance of my sister, below are pictures of the uniform in much better colour and quality.
We also got our daughter to pose with for a few shots. Below is just one of them.
We are parents of 2 girls, aged 2 and 6 at the time we started this venture into selling school uniform in 2013. Our eldest girls was entering primary school and the hunt for school uniform began. We found such a gem in our supplier of uniform, where the quality and prices are great, and we like to share them with parents around us too. :)

Our first stall
Last Friday (15 Nov 2013) was the official last day for my daughter's kindergarten. But the kids are not required to attend as it was designated as a Parents-Teachers-Meeting (PTM).
Earlier, we had asked the co-owner of the kindergarten if they are willing to help us to inform parents of the availability of primary school uniform. She agreed, but somehow due to the busyness of handling the kindergarten's graduation concert, our brochures were not out soon enough. So she asked if we wanted to setup a stall during the PTM, and we thought, why not...
So we prepared ourselves and get the stocks to set up the stall on that day. Just some pictures of the stall we had that day. :)
It was a good experience and had quite good response. It would have been better if not because of one of the schools nearby is having orientation for 2 weeks starting Monday (i.e. today!). So for many parents whose child is registered to that school would have already bought their uniforms.
Hopefully those parents who have personally feel the quality of the uniform will remember us and come back to us the next time they need uniform. :)

How are the measurements done
We find that there were some ambiguity as to how the measurements of the uniform were taken. So here is to show how exactly the measurements is taken.
For the pinafore, the length is from shoulder to the skirt seams, and the waist is around the belt line.
For the pants (both short and long pants), the waist measurement is taken by measuring both the expanded and non-expanded rubber around the waist. But since the elastic rubber cannot be measured with absolute consistency, the measurements given are basically not too tight nor too loose.
Again, make sure you multiply the reading by two for the circumference.
While the price list do not have the length of the shorts and long pants, if required and if we are able to measure (depending on availability of stock), the length of the pants are measured as below:
As for blouse / shirt, see below:
For the pinafore, the length is from shoulder to the skirt seams, and the waist is around the belt line.
The length of the pinafore is take from the shoulder to the seams of the skirt. |
The waist measurement is taken along the belt line. Since it is circumference, multiply the reading by two. |

Measurement taken before the waist is expanded. |
Measure when the waist is expanded. |
Measure from collar to the lower seams of the shirt |

Quality Check
To be sure of the quality, one of our concerns is whether the colour of the pinafore or the pants would leak when washed. We wouldn't want to hand-wash the uniform each time for fear of it staining the other clothes in the washing machine!
We started off by soaking the pinafore for half an hour.
After half an hour, we rinse the pinafore and this is the result:
We are glad that the pinafore passed the colour-leak test. We spoke to some friends who are familiar with other brands of uniform and they agreed that these uniform are of high quality.
At the mean time, we are in the midst of putting the info of sizes and prices together. Hopefully able to post the price list soon!

The pinafore soaked in soap water. |
About to pour into a white container. No white pail, so an inverted stool would do. :p |
Pouring the water... |
And continue to pour... |
The water is crystal clear! |
The water dripping from the pinafore shows no signs of colour leaking. |

Our first batch of samples...
Here are some of samples we have received and it looked very good! The set above is girls' primary school uniform, with the soft collar white blouse.
This set is the boys' primary school uniform, with the hard collar white shirt. Both long pants and shorts available.
There are secondary school uniform available too, but we have yet to take any samples.
Here, a closer look at the back of the shorts. Elastic band, so can stretch to fit.
The elastic band is also on the long pants.
Will soon post the price and sizes. Stay tuned!

Why do we do this?
This initiative started when we were looking for school uniform for our eldest daughter who is going to Standard 1 next year.
The branded and more popular school uniform are usually very expensive. Buying sufficient sets for them to last a week (usually three to five) would really burn a hole in your pocket.
So when we found our supplier of school uniform, we think it is only fitting that we share this gem with other parents as well! So here it is - a true economical alternative for parents, and the quality is actually quite good as well!
We will keep you updated on pictures and prices of these school uniform using this space! So stay tuned! :)
